Job Summary

The Fabrication Specialist will assist the shop supervisor and other job positions in completing daily tasks. This includes operating shop equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts to assist in the creation, cleaning, and movement of parts throughout the shop.

This role is crucial in providing the team with the flexibility to adapt to changing duties. The Fabrication Specialist must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment while following all safety precautions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating machinery, such as band saws, hand grinders, and drill presses
  • Preparing parts for welding using angle grinders
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment
  • Driving to storefront vendors for parts pick up/drop off
  • Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
  • Interpersonal communication and team work skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work cross functionally
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on individual with clear thinking and quick learning abilities
  • Detail oriented

Work Environment:

This role operates in a manufacturing environment and requires some professional office interaction. The position routinely uses manufacturing/production machines and tools. Requires periodic overtime and standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, as well as working in hot or cold temperatures with exposure to noise, dust, odors, etc.

Physical Demands:

Production/manufacturing demands may include walking, squatting, heavy lifting, and subject to loud operating machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position requiring at least 40 hours/week. Hours in excess of 40/week may be required. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm.

Required Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Strong organizational, and interpersonal communication skills to conduct business in English are also required. Competency in fundamental mechanical functions of basic tool usage is not required but desirable. Must have valid driver's license.
