Position: DevOps Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL

Work Arrangement: Onsite presence required up to 3-5 days per week, with remote work available for the remaining days.

Security Clearance: An active Top Secret clearance is mandatory, with a preference for SCI eligibility.

Role Summary:

Black Cape is in search of both Mid-level and Senior-level DevOps Engineers who possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing production systems. Ideal candidates are proactive learners, capable of mastering new technologies and executing tasks independently without continuous oversight.

The selected individual will demonstrate expertise in deploying software across cloud and on-premises environments, as well as in Continuous Integration/Deployment/Monitoring (CI/CD), containerization, and microservices. The role will also involve leading internal DevSecOps initiatives by applying best practices in DevOps and Security, establishing sustainable workflows, implementing automation, and managing deployments across various projects.

Additionally, the position necessitates collaboration with government personnel and participation in high-priority demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and operate a critical cloud-based system across diverse customer environments.
  2. Facilitate effective communication with government representatives to leverage their Software Factory.
  3. Deploy updates and security patches to cloud systems.
  4. Adjust system configurations to ensure compatibility in clustered deployment settings.
  5. Provide insights and strategies for scaling technology components effectively.
  6. Assist the engineering team in evaluating system components.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and capability to obtain Privileged User Access (PUA).
  • Willingness to work onsite up to 5 days a week.
  • Advanced proficiency in Docker and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker Swarm.
  • Proficient in Python and bash scripting, along with Linux command line operations for task automation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
  • Experience with software provisioning tools such as Ansible or SaltStack.
  • Background in managing systems within Linux environments, particularly Red Hat.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is highly desired or a willingness to obtain it.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in classified environments with an understanding of their technical constraints.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in small teams.
  • Experience in navigating complex accreditation and security requirements.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the accreditation and RMF process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with streaming data and automation tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with S3 compliant data storage solutions.
  • Experience with document storage technologies such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB.
  • Expertise in designing scalable, resilient cloud-native systems.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or AWS certifications.
