Airport Rescue Firefighting Instructor

Job Summary

Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach in our Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering instruction and facilitating student learning, as well as developing curriculum and learning strategies that meet the needs of students and employers in the ARFF industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement effective instructional strategies, including alternative delivery methods when appropriate.
• Assist and advise students with academic matters, including assignments, tests, grades, and career concerns.
• Research, develop, and administer skills assessments to evaluate student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
• Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, and providing grades on a timely basis.
• Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
• Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings as requested.
• Participate in staff development activities, such as diversity awareness and technology training.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

• Airport Firefighter and Driver/Operator ARFF Certification, along with an Associate Degree in Fire Protection or a related field, are preferred.
• Five years of occupational experience in the Airport Rescue Firefighting industry, with at least one year within the last five years, is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of Firefighting education, training, and experience from which comparable knowledge may be acquired.
• Teaching or training experience is preferred.
• State of Wisconsin Emergency Services Instructor Certification is required.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver's license is required.
• Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including the development of relevant curriculum and student assessment tools.
