Job Title: Surgical Clinical Support Specialist

Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (40 hours per week)

Role Overview:

As a Surgical Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical process. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at providing exceptional patient care and supporting the surgical team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Active and valid BOC and Florida ATC licensure.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Clinical experience is highly desirable, though not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients in the waiting area and guide them to the examination room.
  • Assist patients with scheduling surgeries and checking out at the front desk.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the examination room, preparing it for patient visits.
  • Sterilize and clean surgical instruments.
  • Ensure proper documentation is provided for the physician's review.
  • Record patient vitals as directed by the physician.
  • Prepare injections for the physician as needed.
  • Retrieve and present imaging studies relevant to the patient's examination.
  • Assist patients with clothing when necessary.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Manage phone calls in patient areas and provide voicemail support for the physician.
  • Request necessary reports from various facilities for physician review.
  • Handle laundry duties, including restocking as needed.
  • Monitor appointment tracking to inform the physician when patients are ready for consultation.
  • Prepare charts by reviewing physician schedules and ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
  • Complete pre-certifications for imaging and other physician orders as required.
  • Submit authorization requests for specific procedures.
  • Input information into patient records, including all physician orders and prescriptions on the date of service.
  • Provide coverage in other office areas when not assigned to a specific physician.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and participate in committees as needed.
