The Surgical Clinical Assistant will provide high-quality support to our orthopedic surgeons and clinical team. This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience, from greeting patients in the waiting room to preparing exam rooms and assisting with clinical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and escorts them to the exam room, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.
- Directs patients to the front desk for checkout and ensures all necessary paperwork is completed.
- Maintains a clean and organized exam room, preparing it for patients and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
- Cleans and autoclaves instruments, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Provides and scans necessary paperwork for physician review, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Records vital signs as requested by the physician, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Prepares injections for the physician, ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Pulls up relevant patient studies, including x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, for physician review.
- Assists patients with clothing as needed, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps, adhering to OSHA regulations and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Answers phones in patient areas, providing excellent customer service and ensuring timely communication.
- Requests reports from various facilities for physician review, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Empties and restocks laundry, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Scans appointment tracking to identify patients ready to be seen by the physician, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Reviews physician schedules to ensure accurate chart preparation, including operative reports, dictations, and studies.
- Completes pre-certifications for MRI and other physician orders as necessary, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Scans information into patient records, including physician orders, prescriptions, and other relevant data.
- Covers other areas in the office as needed, providing support to the clinical team and ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested, contributing to the growth and development of the organization.
