We are seeking a seasoned Mergers and Acquisitions Associate to join our team at Baker McKenzie. As a key member of our corporate transactional practice, you will play a critical role in advising clients on complex M&A transactions, including drafting purchase agreements, merger agreements, and other deal-related documents.
Key Responsibilities- Lead counsel on M&A transactions, including public and private company targets and parties
- Run diligence and corporate approval processes for both public and private company targets
- Advise on M&A-related securities matters and prepare M&A-related securities filings
- Manage the work of junior level associates on deals
- Collaborate with colleagues across borders and practice groups to anticipate and resolve issues in all involved jurisdictions
- 3-4 years of experience in M&A transactions, including drafting purchase agreements and merger agreements
- Strong academic credentials and excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills
- Significant M&A transactional work experience at a major firm or extensive second chair experience on smaller transactions
- Familiarity with managing the work of junior level associates on deals
- Admitted to and a member in good standing of the Illinois Bar or eligible to waive in
- Bonus eligibility
- Benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked
- US base compensation for this position is expected to be $260,000 to $365,000 annually if located in an office in the city of Chicago
