Job Overview

We are in search of a dedicated professional to become a vital part of our Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) division. The successful candidate for the Safety Specialist position will exhibit a strong commitment to achieving results, driven by technical challenges. They will leverage their exceptional interpersonal communication, organizational abilities, and proven analytical problem-solving skills to effectively manage, facilitate, and evaluate safety training initiatives at their designated site. Additionally, they will provide essential safety support during operational shutdowns, equipment assessments, and installations, while ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, organize, and deliver comprehensive safety training programs.
  • Training subjects encompass confined space entry, lockout/tagout procedures, barricade safety, fall protection, fire extinguisher usage, new employee orientation, and other critical safety topics.
  • Maintain accurate records of all training conducted on-site.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and safety gear to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Review and assess plans for the construction of new equipment.
  • Perform audits of essential site safety programs.
  • Evaluate confined space entry rescue plans and provide recommendations.
  • Possess knowledge of confined space first checks and rescue setups as a site resource.
  • Assess the effectiveness and adequacy of existing safety programs.
  • Support operations during startups, shutdowns, and construction phases.
  • Coordinate and lead loss prevention and other regulatory safety inspections.
  • Familiarize with the site's badging system.
  • Oversee the site's security program.
  • Lead various safety teams on-site.
  • Stay updated with current safety policies, regulations, and industrial practices.
  • Have a general understanding of fire protection systems.
  • Revise site procedures and programs as necessary.
  • Participate in site inspections and audits.
  • Engage in additional safety initiatives as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Loss Prevention, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and accident investigation techniques.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills; attentive listener.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capable of following instructions accurately.
  • Able to interact effectively with diverse individuals (both internal and external).
