Position Overview: This role reports to the Pharmacy Services Supervisor or their designated representative. The individual will assist in the formulation, execution, and upkeep of pharmacy services aimed at enhancing and delivering pharmaceutical care. The position involves direct participation in clinically focused services within the assigned scope of practice, demonstrating a commitment to exceptional customer service experiences.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Medication Order Verification: Review and confirm medication orders upon physician request, ensuring completeness, accuracy, compatibility, appropriateness, and proper dosing while considering the diverse needs of various patient demographics (pediatric, neonatal, geriatric).
  • Medication Preparation and Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense medication orders, utilizing aseptic techniques and adhering to established guidelines, including the compounding of sterile products as necessary.
  • Clinical Services Participation: Engage in drug regimen management and medication stewardship, optimizing pharmaceutical care through collaborative practice agreements or approved pharmacy protocols.
  • General Clinical Duties: Provide clinical dosing services, review patient medical records, and recommend appropriate drug therapies while documenting clinical interventions and participating in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Supportive Duties: Assist in developing departmental policies, conducting medication usage evaluations, and participating in the orientation of new staff members.
  • Safety and Compliance: Participate in medication safety evaluations, report medication errors and adverse drug reactions, and ensure adherence to regulatory agency standards.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, a master's degree, or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution. A valid pharmacy license in Indiana is required, along with a minimum of two years of hospital pharmacy experience or completion of a pharmacy residency. BLS and ACLS certifications are necessary for full-time staff.

Physical Demands: The position necessitates physical stamina to perform essential functions, including prolonged standing and some lifting and bending.
