Job Summary

Vessel Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Process Optimization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas where waste can be reduced. Implement Lean tools such as Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kanban, Just-In-Time (JIT), and Six Sigma to improve production flow and eliminate waste.
  • Standardization of Workflows: Develop and document standardized processes to ensure consistency in production quality and efficiency. Train employees on standardized workflows and Lean principles to ensure alignment and engagement with process improvement efforts.
  • Data Analysis: Gather and analyze data on production rates, equipment performance, and labor efficiency. Use data-driven approaches to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Cost Reduction: Implement strategies to reduce manufacturing costs, such as minimizing defects, reducing cycle times, and optimizing material usage. Work with procurement, production, and quality teams to implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, quality control, maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing processes. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve product manufacturability and streamline production processes.
  • Lean Culture Development: Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the organization by leading Lean training sessions and workshops. Facilitate Lean events such as Kaizen blitzes to engage teams in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role, with a focus on Lean manufacturing principles preferably within the automobile or other high capital product industries.
  • Ability to lead improvements in process yield, quality, cycle time, inventory accuracy, and delivery.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Customer-centric: Customer-first mindset (both internal and external customers).
  • Optimization Wiz: able to look at critical processes, identify commonalities across business needs, and recommend areas for simplification while maximizing business impact.
  • Able to apply different optimization tools & frameworks with ease to solve for specific business challenges, i.e. BPM, Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma, process diagrams, user stories, etc.
  • Data driven: adept at analyzing data to inform recommendations, ensure impact is measurable to drive alignment.
  • Structured Thinking: Ability to clarify problems and define structures to resolve ambiguous challenges.
  • Communication: Clear and concise verbal and written communication; ability to tailor communications and detail to specific audiences from VPs to Engineers to accomplish results.
