Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as a Police Officer in our department. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, providing emergency services, and engaging with the community to build trust and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:- Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public safety and order.
- Provide emergency services, including responding to calls and conducting investigations.
- Engage with the community through outreach and education programs.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
- Must be a Virginia certified POLICE OFFICER or eligible for certification through participation in the CPREP program at Crater Criminal Justice Academy.
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Graduated from an accredited high school or GED certificate; college coursework in criminal justice or police science is desirable but not required.
- At least 3 years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess a valid Virginia operators license.
- In good physical condition as determined by a physician.
- Have corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Of good character and reputation.
- Have not been convicted of or pleaded guilty or no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Virginia.
- Not have produced a positive result on a pre-employment drug screening.
- Successfully pass all phases of our police selection process, which will include a written examination, physical agility test, extensive background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological screening, medical and drug screening.
- Ability to obtain appropriate public safety certifications within a specified period of time.
