Job Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Originator role at Lake Michigan Credit Union is responsible for assisting members with their mortgage lending needs, analyzing loan requests, and making credit decisions based on mortgage lending policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate loan documents to ensure compliance with bank and regulatory standards, and assemble documents in loan files for review and approval.
  • Market the Credit Union's mortgage lending program to real estate professionals and individuals, promoting the benefits of working with LMCU.
  • Assess the acceptability of loans on secondary mortgage markets, ensuring alignment with Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Cross-sell other Credit Union services to members, providing a comprehensive financial solution.
  • Stay informed about current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending, ensuring expertise and knowledge in the field.
Requirements:
  • Three to five years of sales or related experience, with prior experience in the mortgage industry preferred.
  • Active registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with members and stakeholders.
