Manufacturing Engineer

Belcan is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, machining, and material handling equipment.
You will work closely with the tooling design team and in-house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs into instructions that suppliers can bid and fabricate. Your expertise in composite manufacturing will be highly valued, and you will be responsible for coordinating directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and that suppliers meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
This is a unique opportunity to utilize your knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building. You will also have the opportunity to work with CAD software such as NX and Catia and laser inspection.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development of tooling packages for supplier bid process through procurement group.
- Analyze complex GD&T drawings and help identify shortcomings or missing information.
- Track supplier performance and answer technical questions related to the manufacturing of tools.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to support suppliers in manufacturing of tooling.
- Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in tool design layout.
- Interact with design and development teams to meet all design tooling requirements.
- Support Continuous Improvement activities.
- Support activities related to estimating, RFQ/RFP/RFI, and ROM pricing.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline.
- 2-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering facility or equivalent.
- Composite experience is a plus.
- CAD solid modeling (experience with NX/CATIA) and drafting experience are a plus.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with GD&T best practices.
- Must be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with tooling design, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing is a plus.
- Oral and written communication, computer, documentation, and presentation skills are required.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
