Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at Stratas Foods. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the plant's compliance with all safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Coordinate, interpret, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Complete all local, state, and federal environmental reports to ensure plant compliance.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported to the required departments and agencies, and all documents are distributed.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and auditing of all security and fire protection equipment, and develop hazards control practices and programs.
  • Assist with conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for the facility.
  • Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
  • Serve as an active member of the plant's Safety Committee.
  • Lead incident and/or injury investigations in conjunction with line and staff personnel.
  • Manage workers' compensation programs and guidelines in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Review new/modified equipment and processes for health and safety purposes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies for the plant.
  • Provide new hire training and orientation.
  • Investigate safety-related incidents.
  • Provide weekly toolbox training topics.
  • Provide safety training to contractors.
  • Conduct/administer monthly safety training.
  • Implement audit systems that focus on accountability and corrective action.
  • Implement programs to improve plant safety performance to meet plant goals.
  • Prepare monthly EHS reports summarizing key statistics, data, and training activities/needs.
Requirements

Education: BS in industrial hygiene, safety, or environmental science is preferred; or relevant experience.

Related Experience: Preferred minimum of 1-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA, and other key HSE regulations/websites. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

3. Presentation skills to enable effective training and communication to all levels of the organization.

4. Written and oral communication skills to enable the use of multiple communication media (workbooks, presentations, reports, etc.) as needed.

5. Change management skills are important to drive and sustain improvement in a fast-paced and changing work environment.

Additional Information

Physical: Must be able to conduct plant walkthroughs and inspections/audits up to 4 hours at a time, to include walking and climbing up/down stairs and ladders (portable, fixed).

Sensory: Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell, and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal, and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.).

Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.
