Job Title: Traveling General Superintendent

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traveling General Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our construction operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of complex construction projects from initial planning to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
  • Manage and oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEOC.
  • Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of project sites.
  • Lead daily standup and weekly trade meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Attend, manage, and participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
  • Develop and implement project schedules, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor and track project budget and costs, using project management system's cost reports and data from the project manager.
  • Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Follow project filing and documentation organization systems, updating drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
  • Approve and record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily reports, logs, and tracking reports.
  • Evaluate progress on self-perform work and make adjustments as needed.
  • Manage material and equipment needs for the project.
  • Support MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes.
  • Assist in the selection of formwork, tools, and equipment necessary to complete self-perform operations.
  • Manage timecard approval processes to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes.
  • Ensure quality compliance through the use of specifications, setting quality standards, in-house QA/QC, and outside resources.
  • Support project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and governing authorities.
  • Gain understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
  • Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to develop project pre-plans, implement, monitor, and adjust as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for assigned projects.
  • Partner with project management to identify schedule and costs associated with project changes.
  • Participate in the negotiation process with owners and architects to gain agreement for project changes.
  • Participate with the project team in preparation and presentation for all project review meetings, including monthly review processes and other key project meetings.
  • Participate in project buy-out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Understand and apply the terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts for the project.
  • Responsible for identifying and recruiting top talent.
  • Lead, support, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn, understanding and ensuring positive, proactive implementation throughout the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 12+ years of construction experience.
  • 10+ years of field supervision experience.
  • Experience leading Lean principles on projects (preferred).

Working Environment:

  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
