Position: AS400 + COBOL Programmer

Contract Duration: Long-term

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient programming expertise on the iSeries platform – Develop and analyze new applications utilizing COBOL, SQLCOBOL, CBLLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
  • Strong understanding of SQL principles – Evaluate and adjust intricate SQL queries, embedded SQL within SQL COBOL, Cursor programming, and SQL Stored Procedures.
  • Database Knowledge – Design and assess Physical files, Logical Files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, and Stored Procedures.
  • Competent in screen programming – Work with Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files.
  • ILE Programming – Analyze and construct program modules, binding directories, and service programs.
  • Effectively document business rules and generate data mapping documents by analyzing program and data flows.
  • Excellent communication abilities and a readiness to take full ownership of project tasks through collaboration with business users and Business Analysts.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with Triggers and Message Queuing for inter-program and inter-system communication.
  • Understanding of 3-Tier Architecture and IBMi REST/SOAP web services, including JSON and XML feeds.
  • Knowledge in the Insurance Sector, particularly in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance.
  • Practical experience with the Wheatley Insurance System (WINS).
