Position Title: COBOL/400 Developer
Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient programming capabilities on the iSeries platform, with the ability to analyze and develop new applications utilizing COBOL, SQLCOBOL, CBLLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
- Strong understanding of SQL principles, including the ability to analyze and adjust intricate SQL queries, embedded SQL within SQLCOBOL, cursor programming, and SQL stored procedures.
- Familiarity with database concepts, including the creation and analysis of physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
- Solid experience in screen programming, including display files, subfiles, and printer files.
- Knowledge of ILE programming, including the analysis and creation of program modules, binding directories, and service programs.
- Ability to document business rules effectively and create data mapping documents by analyzing program and data flows.
- Strong communication skills, with a readiness to take full ownership of project tasks through collaboration with business users and business analysts.
- Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of triggers and message queuing for inter-program and inter-system communication.
- Experience with 3-tier architecture and IBMi REST/SOAP web services, as well as JSON and XML feeds.
- Knowledge of the insurance sector, particularly in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance.
- Hands-on experience with the Wheatley Insurance System (WINS).
