Job Title: Senior Designer

Join American Eagle Outfitters as a Senior Designer and play a key role in shaping the future of our Women's Wovens assortment. As a seasoned designer, you will be responsible for seasonally designing and executing the AE Women's Wovens assortment that aligns with our brand's aesthetic and philosophy.

Responsibilities:
  • Stay on top of market trends domestically and internationally, evaluating their relevance to American Eagle's brand identity.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Design Director to identify big ideas and key items that address the seasonal brief and business needs.
  • Develop exceptional sketching and vector CAD skills to effectively communicate design concepts and technical details.
  • Apply seasonal color, print, and pattern to the line, working closely with the Senior Design Director to balance the key focus palettes and color stories.
  • Conduct thorough research on raw materials, working with the material team to source seasonal fabrics and attend weekly material meetings to manage requests and approvals.
  • Partner with the Senior Design Director on seasonal presentations and key milestones, confidently fielding questions from executive leadership.
  • Oversee seasonal decks, ensuring all up-to-date information on details, wash, and color is accurately represented.
  • Supervise techpack creation, ensuring the assistant designer can correctly assemble all necessary information for the tech team.
  • Collaborate with the production team to schedule handoffs according to calendar deadlines aligned with the design director.
  • Attend and support all style fittings, guiding the teams through fit comments, support, and proof follow-up actions.
  • Manage design team workload and day-to-day tasks, helping to prioritize through the complexity of overlapping seasons.
  • Partner with the Senior Design Director on seasonal calendar and category-specific deadlines to ensure these are achievable.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education).
  • 8+ years of related experience in the apparel industry, with Wovens experience being a plus.
  • Keen eye for color, trend, detail, and construction.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign) and Excel, with PLM experience being a plus.
  • Ability to act as liaison between departments, with excellent communication and analytic skills.
