We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance, oversight, and management in support of the mission of the Controller's Office.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and manage functional units or key tasks/projects within the Controller's Office.
- Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures relating to their functional unit or task.
- Supervise large complex University-wide projects and efforts to improve University systems, business processes, or accomplish other significant University objectives.
- Represent the University in a wide variety of forums internally and externally.
- Supervise and provide assistance/guidance for post award function processes, including award setup, award closeout, financial reporting, and cost reimbursable invoicing.
- Manage the workflow to ensure that deadlines and schedules are met.
- Supervise and deliver sponsored projects shared services training program for new/existing employees and research administration trainees.
- Act on behalf of the manager in the manager's absence.
- Assist with the coordination of audits regarding sponsored activity.
- Maintain the data integrity of the University's accounting system.
- Provide excellent customer service to divisions, departments, and faculty.
- Provide training and support to departmental administrators pertaining to sponsored policies and procedures.
- Supervise and coordinates staff to identify and implement business process improvements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible related work experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- MBA, CPA, or MS Finance preferred.
- An advanced degree in any of these fields and/or CPA certification is strongly preferred.
