Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building and Facilities Supervisor to join our team at Sabert. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all necessary maintenance and facilities work for our plant and warehouse facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine general maintenance and repair of commercial equipment and buildings, utilizing skills from various trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
  • Carry out low-voltage electrical maintenance, including replacing electrical receptacles, wiring, contactors, switches, photocells, fluorescent and HID lamps, and ballasts.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and HVAC problems, identifying and correcting issues, and utilizing multimeters and gauges for diagnosis.
  • Perform minor repairs and replacements of sinks, water coolers, urinals, and toilets, as well as patching holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Paint structures and equipment, and repair or replace damaged paneling and tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks, and replace broken windows.
  • Assist and support licensed electricians and plant maintenance mechanics for diagnosed issues.
  • Perform other project duties as required or directed.
  • Keep buildings in a clean and orderly condition by examining the building on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Direct landscaping contractors and upkeep any Company-owned lawn equipment, including maintaining outside premises in a safe and attractive condition.
  • Direct snow removal services and provide support in clearing sidewalks of snow and ice.
  • Order all necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Lead and direct a small team of porters and facilities associates to complete similar tasks.
HVAC Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor HVAC systems manually and through automated control systems.
  • Respond to all building alarms, including security, fire, and other evacuation procedures.
  • Call for specialized subcontracted system maintenance as required.
  • Program environmental systems, including start-up and shut-down, and in-process adjustments as required.
  • Operate and maintain one or more systems, including geothermal, that provides services such as heat, air conditioning, humidification, dehumidification, air filters, and circulation air.
  • Fabricate and install ducts and associated air handling equipment.
  • Adjust controls to ensure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet the required demands on the system.
  • Maintain CMMS work orders and data systems, operating logs of equipment, and perform administrative work in relation to listed responsibilities, as directed by management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, service calls, diagnostic services, and incidental/minor repair on all structural, mechanical, and electrical HVAC systems.
Requirements
  • Operate and monitor facility equipment, including compressors, air-dryers, vacuum pumps, chillers, water pumps/pumping stations, exhaust fans, conveyor systems, forklifts, floor scrubbers, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, and security/monitoring systems.
  • Perform analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and PM of manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide detailed reports on parts and services needed for specific equipment or projects.
  • Ability to perform plumbing work, including PVC, black, and steel pipe installation up to 8 inches.
  • Familiarity with fire pumps, sprinkler systems, and knowledge of operation, maintenance, inspection, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and obtain necessary information/data from vendors, service centers, local authorities, management, and employees.
  • Knowledge of various electrical systems, devices, controllers, VFD, PLC, starters, switches, contactors, relays, safety switches, safety relays, safety interlocks, sensors, and indicators.
  • Basic knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code).
  • Clear understanding of operation following systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and their combinations.
  • Ability to plan, calculate, and execute various/multiple projects at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
Education and Experience

College or equivalent trade school diploma required. 5 years of experience in building maintenance is preferred. Must be familiar with researching, reading, and understanding technical manuals, mechanical and electrical diagrams, and stock lists. Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to interface with office and professional staff are essential.

Certification, Licenses, and Registrations
  • HVAC Freon license is a plus, but not required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own transportation.
Physical Demands
  • Must be capable of bending and lifting small parts and machine equipment.
  • Able to push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.
