Job Title: School Social Worker/Clinical Counselor

Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Social Worker/Clinical Counselor to join our team. As a member of our Clinical Services Department, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our scholars.

Job Summary:

The School Social Worker/Clinical Counselor will provide counseling services to students, complete diagnostic assessments, and collaborate with school-based teams to support scholars and provide confidential guidance to staff. You will also participate in IEP, MDT, and manifestation hearings, facilitate professional development and training opportunities, and maintain comprehensive, confidential files on all students.

Responsibilities:

  • Counsel students individually and in groups to address academic, social, and emotional challenges
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify student needs and develop individualized plans
  • Collaborate with school-based teams to provide confidential guidance and support to staff
  • Participate in IEP, MDT, and manifestation hearings to ensure student needs are met
  • Facilitate professional development and training opportunities for staff
  • Maintain comprehensive, confidential files on all students
  • Develop protocols for maintaining confidential clinical files and referral processes
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Services Department to recruit, select, train, and supervise graduate mental health interns

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work or mental health/community/school counseling
  • License is mandatory; LGSW or LGPC with two years of experience and LICSW or LPC-eligible
  • OSSE certification is mandatory
  • Experience working in juvenile detention/secure facilities preferred
  • Experience working in community-based mental health, family health/mental health, and/or public school settings
  • Strong documentation skills and commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
