Nurse Manager

Coral Rehabilitation and Nursing of Arlington is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead our nursing team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for directing the daily activities of our certified nursing assistants and ensuring that our residents receive the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision
- Direct the daily activities of certified nursing assistants in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are complied with by nursing personnel assigned.
- Resident Care
- Participate in the admission, discharge, and transfers of residents as required.
- Observe for changes in residents' status, notifying the physician and resident's family or representative and documenting accordingly.
- Transcribe physician orders to medical records and carry out orders as written.
- Medication Administration
- Prepare and administer medications as per physicians' orders and observe for adverse effects.
- Wound Care and Treatment
- Perform wound treatments as per physicians' orders, observe for changes, and document accordingly.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Schedule follow-up appointments for residents and transportation needs as indicated.
- Provide nursing leadership to nursing personnel assigned to the unit.
- Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed to ensure residents' needs are holistically met.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Inform appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and file grievances as necessary.
- Report any incidents or unusual occurrences to the supervisor, unit manager, assistant director, or nursing director and participate in the investigative process as needed.
- Education and Licensure
- A nursing degree from an accredited college or university or a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
- Experience and Skills
- Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required.
- Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in practicing state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to, and be an example of teamwork.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents, family, and staff.
- Must be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition.
- Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
- Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting, and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
- Subject to falls, burns from equipment, and/or odors throughout the day.
- Encounter reactions from dust, tobacco smoke, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
- May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, family members, visitors, or personnel.
- Must possess leadership, supervisory ability, and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
- Subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
- Works at nursing station and throughout the facility.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends, holidays when necessary.
Agreement to abide by all standards, policies, and procedures of the facility, including the facility's compliance and ethics program, is a condition of employment. Compliance will be a factor in evaluating job performance. Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Periodic revision may be necessary to reflect changes in expectations placed on long-term care by various governmental agencies. This job description will be reviewed and/or revised annually and as needed.

- Unsatisfactory: Achieves results which are far less than the standards identified for the performance factors rated.
- Needs Improvement: Achieves results which are less than the standards identified for the performance factors rated. Exhibits the potential to become a competent performer. May be new to job or need skill development.
- Meets Standards: Achieves results which meet the standards identified for the performance factors rated. This rating is the expected level of performance.
- Exceeds Standards: Achieves results which usually exceed the standards identified for the performance factors rated.
