Firefighter-Paramedic Recruit

As a Firefighter-Paramedic Recruit, you will undergo comprehensive training and development to become a skilled and confident firefighter-paramedic.

The Firefighter-Paramedic Recruit is a non-sworn, non-safety position that requires a strong foundation in emergency medical services and firefighting techniques. As a Firefighter-Paramedic Recruit, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services, operating firefighting equipment, and participating in fire prevention and education activities.

• Provide emergency medical services, including patient assessment, treatment, and transportation
• Operate firefighting equipment, including engines, trucks, and rescue vehicles
• Participate in fire prevention and education activities, including public outreach and community engagement
• Assist in fire suppression and rescue operations
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of firefighting equipment and apparatus

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Current California Paramedic License (EMT-P) or National Registry Paramedic License
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
• Valid California Class C driver license
• Pass the Cal-JAC Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) and possess a valid CPAT certificate
• Register for and pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) written examination
• Be active on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility list
