Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Close Manager to join our team at MassMutual. As a key member of our Close and Consolidation team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial statement close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the corporate close process, including facilitating daily close meetings, tracking late journal entries, and conducting post-close debriefs to identify opportunities for process optimizations.
  • Assist in the production of financial results summaries, including US GAAP and Statutory reports, and communicate results to management to enable timely strategic decision-making.
  • Design and operationalize the process of producing US GAAP basis income statement estimations to share with management throughout the close cycle.
  • Identify and monitor control deficiencies related to the corporate close process and design and oversee timely and effective remediation procedures.
  • Provide management and oversight of offshore resources and contribute to the successful transition to new technology solutions to automate and improve our processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors and provide complete and accurate source document information, including control execution documentation and support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or large sophisticated corporate environment, with at least 4+ years providing life reinsurance or life insurance accounting, general ledger processing, reporting, or month-end close related matters.
  • 4+ years of knowledge and experience of STAT and US GAAP accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or MBA or equivalent.
  • CPA certification.
  • NAIC statutory accounting experience.
  • Experience in best-in-class control execution/documentation.
  • Ability to perform independent accounting research and serve as a key resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems.
