About the Position
We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Family Medicine Physician to join our team as a Core Faculty member in the Rural Family Medicine Residency Program at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a founding core faculty member, you will play a key role in building this program from the ground up and helping to shape the future of family medicine education.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement curriculum for the Rural Family Medicine Residency Program
- Develop and maintain a continuity panel and independent clinical practice
- Supervise and direct Family Medicine Residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Teach and evaluate residents, medical students, and other learners
- Participate in scholarship and research activities
- Recruit and retain high-caliber residents who are committed to rural healthcare and health equity
Requirements
- License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine
- Certification and recertification by the American Board of Family Medicine
- Past experience in providing direct patient care to underserved populations
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Past experience in providing direct patient care and/or residency training in rural settings
- Direct experience in the medical education of learners
- Confidence and willingness to be a faculty lead in areas such as care of pregnant women, inpatient care, mental health treatment, and primary care point of care ultrasound
