Public Safety Officer

As a Public Safety Officer at Hartford HealthCare, you will serve as a front-line guardian to our community, providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure, and prepared for all patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians, and physicians. You will be equipped to prevent hazardous situations, respond and manage emergency situations, and provide support and resources when situations are successfully managed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional, customer-focused assistance to the HHC community, including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and first responders.
- Patrol and round facilities to identify concerning activity, safety concerns, or other problems.
- May be assigned to fixed areas to check credentials, provide information, or directions.
- Operate vehicles in a safe manner, complying with all traffic and safety rules.
- Respond to security incidents and hazards, using problem-solving to take appropriate action.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructions, policies, and procedures, and perform work in accordance with these guidelines.
- Share information with other Public Safety Officers, maintain accurate activity logs, and complete reports and documentation.
- Partner with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant.
- Inform supervisors or other leadership of unusual situations and request additional assistance as needed.
- One (1) year of relevant experience in public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, or military.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid CT Guard Card.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred.
- Basic First Aid and CPR preferred.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred.
- Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) preferred.
- Multilingual preferred.
