Job Summary

Chapman University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Economic Research Assistant to provide administrative and project coordination support to the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily operations, preparing project materials, and maintaining databases.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate daily operations of the ACER office, including responding to public inquiries and preparing memos and letters for the Director's review.
Prepare project materials, including departmental project calendars and timelines for surveys.
Maintain databases, including local, state, and national databases, and update indexes of leading economic indicators.
Assist in collecting, entering, and maintaining data for research papers and publications, and assist in preparing data for inclusion in the Economic and Business Review.
Assist in the production of the Review and forecast publication for the Inland Empire, and assist in creating tables and graphs for presentations and publications.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in coordinating projects, creating tables and graphs, and database maintenance and management.
Strong computer skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications, preferably Microsoft Office Suite software.
Strong writing and editing skills to prepare and proofread clear, concise, and grammatically correct business correspondence, reports, and publications.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to formulate and communicate financial and economics-based information.
Strong organizational skills to plan, prioritize deadlines, and perform multiple tasks without constant direct supervision.
Demonstrated effective communications and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels, both within and outside of the university.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of economics, statistics, and academic research support as related to this position.
Experience with database maintenance and management, and knowledge of survey collection and data analyses procedures.
Understanding of survey collection processes and experience using Quark software.
