Job Overview

SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that the facilities and properties are kept in optimal condition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Efficiently completes scheduled work orders and provides updates on progress.
  • Repairs or replaces faulty equipment components using hand and power tools, and reassembles machinery as needed.
  • Assists in renovation and construction projects as required.
  • Maintains landscaping equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
  • Responds promptly to special facility requests from staff and residents, which may include minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
  • Conducts routine preventive maintenance to guarantee smooth operation of machinery, efficient building systems, and preservation of the physical condition of the properties.
  • Clears snow and ice from walkways, parking areas, and other campus locations.
  • Keeps accurate records of maintenance and repair activities performed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to take responsibility and be accountable for actions.
  • Competence in basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate machinery.
  • Strong understanding of written and verbal communication.
  • Capability to lift and handle heavy objects.
  • Familiarity with safety policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires substantial physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and loud noises is expected.
  • May encounter hazards or physical risks, necessitating adherence to basic safety measures.
  • Typical healthcare environment.
