Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Recruitment and Training: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for lifeguards, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and certifications to effectively monitor the pool area.
  • Shift Scheduling and Deployment: Create and manage lifeguard schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Supervision and Monitoring: Directly supervise lifeguards during their shifts, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure they adhere to safety protocols and maintain vigilance in monitoring pool activities.
  • Emergency Response Coordination: Oversee emergency response procedures and coordinate with lifeguards during water rescues, medical emergencies, or other incidents.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Inventory: Ensure that all lifeguard equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and stocked, and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Safety Inspections and Risk Assessment: Conduct regular inspections of the pool area to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks and enhance safety for patrons and staff.
  • Policy Enforcement and Patron Management: Enforce facility rules and regulations related to pool safety, address any violations or misconduct among patrons, and provide excellent customer service to pool patrons.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of incidents and accidents, as well as staff training and certifications, and generate reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Continual Improvement and Training: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current on lifeguarding techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of lifeguard experience
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications
  • American Red Cross Certification as Lifeguard (LG) and Instructor (LGI)
  • All required certifications must be current and attained prior to the first day of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred
