Position Overview

This is a part-time role requiring commitment for 5 days a week.

Working Hours: Afternoon shifts.

The successful candidate will undertake essential administrative tasks to ensure all necessary documentation is reviewed and that information remains accurate and relevant.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering First Aid to students and staff as necessary.
  • Providing medical intervention support for specific conditions as approved by the relevant authorities, which requires specialized training and regular updates.
  • Communicating with parents and guardians regarding their children's medical needs when First Aid is administered.
  • Maintaining First Aid kits and yard duty bags across the school, including preparation for camps and excursions.
  • Ordering, storing, and monitoring medications and medical supplies to ensure the First Aid cupboard is consistently stocked and current.
  • Documenting all First Aid visits and incidents accurately.
  • Ensuring that all students with special medical needs are up to date with their health records.
  • Keeping the sick bay clean, organized, and free of clutter.
  • Coordinating and ensuring that staff complete necessary First Aid training, including but not limited to Level 2, anaphylaxis, asthma, and diabetes training.
  • Developing and implementing effective strategies for First Aid administration.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Principal and Business Manager:

  • Manage student health and wellbeing documentation in accordance with educational policies.
  • Provide professional support services and health advice.
  • Offer strategic insights on health support services and their effects on students and curriculum.
  • Oversee the use of school resources related to health and First Aid.
  • Promote Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards and assist with compliance reporting.
  • Administer medications as required, ensuring all medications on site are current.
  • Provide health education and resources related to specific health conditions.
  • Support teachers in managing students with health issues.
  • Utilize provided software for recording incidents and health center visits.
  • Maintain a respectful and supportive environment for all students, staff, and parents.
  • Engage in professional development activities as required.
  • Lead mandatory training sessions for staff on health-related topics.
