About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Duke University. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in the preparation and care of surgical patients, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients, including setting up operating rooms and sterilizing equipment.
  • Work closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly sterilized.
  • Assist with patient education and provide support to patients and families during the surgical process.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA).
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment, and often without relief.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy relating to the surgical procedure and the instrumentation required in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Ability to set priorities and respond appropriately to actual and/or potential life-threatening situations.
