Arts Education Specialist

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a qualified Performing Arts Instructor to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, ensuring a quality experience for students and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement our Association Quality Standards and 9 Dimensions of Well Being into Youth Programming and Staff Development.
- Create class lesson plans that reflect YMCA core values and are tailored to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught.
- Develop program materials and content that are developmentally appropriate and align with the YMCA mission, values, and service to the community.
- Provide lesson plans, supply lists, and budgets to the Arts Director as requested.
- Participate in performances, Y Arts Week events, and other YMCA events as assigned.
- Communicate program information and student progress effectively.
- A commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- 5 years of formal training in performing arts or comparable experience.
- 1-2 years of experience as a teacher and/or teaching assistant.
- The ability to instruct beginning and intermediate level classes.
- The enthusiasm to teach classes for ages preschool through adult.
- A positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
- A belief that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
- The ability to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day and other online or in-person training as required.
- The ability to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
The estimated salary for this position is $16.28 to $16.78 per hour, depending on qualifications.
