Job Summary

The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance and repairs to building systems, equipment, and exterior property grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building grounds, equipment, and components, including HVAC, building automation systems, lighting fixtures, locks, doors, plumbing, and bathroom components.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager for corrective action.
  • Receive, assemble, and install furnishings.
  • Collaborate with campus staff on event schedules and perform required room set-ups, including moving tables, chairs, and other furniture.
  • Assist the department supervisor in meeting with vendors regarding building projects.
  • Make occasional trips to local businesses to obtain materials and equipment.
  • Be on call after hours for urgent needs.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with various tools and equipment used for building maintenance and repair.
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills for basic HVAC components, electrical fixtures, plumbing, and building repair.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to complete tasks timely with minimal disruption to the educational/business operation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document accurate maintenance records.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or specialized equipment/system repair credentials preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of facilities experience in building operations.
  • General project management skills.
Travel and Work Environment

Local travel to area businesses may be required. Work is performed in a combination of classroom and office environments, as well as wet lab and grounds. Frequent walking, standing, and use of hand and power tools are required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
