Job Summary

The University of Saint Augustine is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance and repairs to our building systems, equipment, and exterior property grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Repair and Replacement: Troubleshoot and repair defective equipment and systems, and replace worn-out or damaged components as needed.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the exterior property grounds, including landscaping, parking lots, and walkways.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with campus staff to schedule events and perform required room set-ups, and communicate effectively with vendors and contractors.
  • Problem-Solving and Analysis: Use problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve maintenance issues, and make recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or specialized equipment/system repair credentials preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of facilities experience in building operations, with a strong background in maintenance and repair.
  • Skills: Familiarity with various tools and equipment used for building maintenance and repair, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work in a combination of classroom and office environment, as well as on the grounds and in wet lab settings. The position requires frequent walking, standing, and use of hands, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of heavy equipment and materials.
