Job Title: Assistant General Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for ensuring their departments are fully focused and effective in their role as a key link between our customer, striving to optimize business and material flow within the defined cost standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter, Constitution, and Magna Operations Principles.
  • Promote company culture and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Lead, manage, and support staff through goal setting, performance monitoring, communication, and on-the-job training.
  • Collect, measure, and analyze data to continuously improve quality operating systems.
  • Foster effective communication through regular department meetings and an open-door policy.
  • Be accessible to employees through management by walking around (MBWA).
  • Manage operational budgets and facilitate key employee committee meetings for continuous improvement.
  • May require overtime and travel to achieve objectives.
  • Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions, following health and safety policies.
  • Conduct scheduled workplace inspections.
  • Act as IATF management representative (if applicable).
  • Adhere to Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and compliance policies.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, including eight years of manufacturing leadership experience, or equivalent, with at least five (5) years in a senior management capacity within the automotive industry.

Prior involvement with strategic planning, resource allocation, and the coordination of people and resources is essential. Strong understanding of equipment reliability and labor efficiencies within a production environment is also required.

The candidate should have knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant, including maintenance, quality, production control, safety, program management, operations, and materials, as well as experience with strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM) and self-directed teams.
