Lead Histotechnician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Histotechnician to join our team at QualDerm Partners, LLC. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of tissue specimens for routine and special procedures, ensuring exceptional patient service, and maintaining a high level of quality assurance.

• Lab Operations
  • Manage lab staff schedule and ensure efficient workflow
  • Train and mentor staff members to ensure high-quality results
  • Assist with receipt of specimens and accessioning paraffin cases
  • Prepare and print cassettes, slides, and slide labels
  • File slides and blocks appropriately
• Quality Assurance
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and quality of results
  • Verify slide and block match for each case
  • Compile cases and ensure slides are placed with corresponding patient requisition information
• Technical Expertise
  • Operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate tissue specimens
  • Prepare slides of specimens using specified stains to enhance visibility under the microscope
  • Examine slides under the microscope to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements
• Leadership and Communication
  • Manage unexpected lab situations, such as problems with instruments or detecting health problems that may cause unusual test results
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists, staff, and patients to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality results
  Requirements
  • Completed HTL training program and eligible to take licensing exam
  • 1 year experience in histopathology laboratory
  • Dermatology practice or office experience a plus
