Position Overview:

The Senior CT Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services within the CT department. This position involves performing advanced computerized tomographic examinations under both direct and indirect supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts CT imaging studies, ensuring optimal patient positioning and immobilization techniques. Selects appropriate technical parameters and protocols tailored to each patient's needs. Collaborates with Radiologists and nursing staff to review orders and manage scheduling effectively.
  • Manages the Protocol Worklist to ensure timely and accurate processing of imaging orders.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals, verifying patient identity prior to examinations. Maintains confidentiality and accuracy in data entry while documenting procedures in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Prepares and maintains sterile environments, including the setup of contrast agents and surgical supplies, ensuring all materials are available and sterile for procedures.
  • Assists Radiologists during interventional procedures, capturing essential CT images and aiding in biopsy collections. Demonstrates proficiency in operating and understanding the full capabilities of CT equipment.
  • Post-processes CT images as necessary, preparing them for Radiologist review and transmitting them to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of departmental equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions.
  • Provides compassionate care, ensuring patient comfort and understanding throughout the imaging process. Prepares patients for procedures and maintains IV access as needed.
  • Educates patients and their families on safety measures related to imaging procedures, ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols.
  • Participates as a member of the resuscitation team during emergency situations.
  • Ensures cleanliness and organization of the work area, managing supplies and linen effectively.
  • Supervises and mentors student technologists during their clinical rotations, sharing on-call responsibilities within the CT department.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and attends departmental meetings to stay updated on best practices.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CT technologist.

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Radiographer License (Hawaii)
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification in Computed Tomography

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience in CT technology.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience in a clinical setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field.
