POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist II, you will conduct standardized and moderately complex tests across various scientific disciplines, including biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, microbiological, and serological analyses within a clinical or research laboratory setting.
In addition, you will provide mentorship to junior technologists and play a vital role in the education of staff and students by demonstrating procedures and participating in their training and orientation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the collection of acceptable specimens and may perform venipuncture.
- Evaluate the accuracy of test results and validate findings through alternative methods.
- Maintain thorough and precise documentation of patient information, equipment, and test outcomes to adhere to regulatory standards.
- Confirm that scheduled tests are completed efficiently.
- Engage in independent research initiatives and assist in the formulation of new laboratory procedures.
- Calibrate instruments, conduct preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions.
- Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and assist in reordering as necessary.
- Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field such as chemical, physical, or biological sciences is required.
Certification from an accredited agency, such as MT (ASCP) or equivalent, is necessary.
A minimum of two years of experience in medical technology is expected.Note that the bachelor's degree requirement may be waived for those who were ASCP certified prior to the degree requirement.
