McKendree Village is looking for an experienced Advanced Wound Management Nurse to enhance our dedicated healthcare team. Our mission is to provide exceptional care and support to our residents and patients.

As a vital member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating Comprehensive Care: Oversee treatment plans that include thorough wound assessments, goal setting, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educate patients, families, and staff on effective wound management techniques, prevention strategies, and appropriate dressing selections.
  • Collaboration: Serve as a key resource for physicians and clinical staff, providing insights and guidance on wound care practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough wound assessments and manage care for patients across all age groups.
  • Utilize current wound management theories to provide effective treatment for both acute and chronic wounds.
  • Develop and implement skin care programs aimed at preventing skin breakdown.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical procedures and postoperative care related to bowel surgeries.
  • Revise care plans based on patient responses and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Educate patients and families on pain management strategies and the importance of proper wound care.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative assessments and education for patients undergoing ostomy procedures.
  • Document all patient interactions and care provided in compliance with current standards.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • A minimum of two years of experience in medical/surgical or rehabilitation nursing.
  • Certification as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
