Position Overview
The DREAM organization is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Middle School Volleyball Assistant Coach. This role is pivotal in nurturing young athletes and fostering a positive sporting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing and conducting 1-3 training sessions weekly;
- Facilitate logistics related to athlete arrival and departure;
- Engage in recruitment efforts to attract new athletes to the team;
- Manage team rosters and contribute to game strategies on match days;
- Oversee and guide team and individual conduct, employing positive discipline techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants;
- Ensure the physical safety of youth during supervision and transportation when required;
- Adhere to all safety protocols established by the organization;
- Maintain accurate attendance records for practices and games;
- Exemplify sportsmanship and uphold respectful interactions with players, officials, and spectators;
- Promote positive youth behaviors and advocate for DREAM's mission, values, and policies among staff, participants, and stakeholders;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of the sport's rules and regulations;
- Experience working with school-aged children is essential;
- Ability to promote and exemplify sport-based youth development principles;
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in an assistant coaching role;
- Preferred: Previous competitive experience in this sport at the high school and/or collegiate level;
- CPR/First Aid certification is advantageous;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail;
- A genuine belief in the mission and values of DREAM, with a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of students, families, and the community.
Commitment Details
- Days & hours: Monday-Thursday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM;
- Evening and weekend games may be required;
- Schedule is subject to change based on team needs.
Compensation
- DREAM offers competitive pay, with this position compensated at $20 per hour.
