About the Role

Trevor Day School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Middle School Basketball Coach to lead our girls and boys teams. As a coach, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive coaching plan that focuses on building the skills and confidence of our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a coaching plan that aligns with the school's athletic program goals and objectives.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes on the fundamentals of basketball, including skill-building sessions and team practices.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among student-athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Travel with teams to and from competitions during the season.
  • Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings and events.
  • Manage athletic administrative duties, including attendance, roster management, score reporting, and uniform distribution.
  • Display leadership, professional behavior, and communication in dealings with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Provide feedback to student-athletes on a regular basis regarding skill development and opportunities for growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of relevant coaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of sport-specific skills and strategies.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Growth mindset and passion for learning.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting, vision, and creativity, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates must complete the Center for Disease Control's HEADS up concussion awareness training and First Aid/AED/CPR certification before the start of the season.
