Overview:


Unified Women's Healthcare is currently looking for a Laboratory Specimen Coordinator to manage cytology, histology, and molecular microbiology samples.

A background in medical terminology and data entry is advantageous.

The Coordinator will assist laboratory technical personnel by performing various support tasks, including specimen reception and triage, inventory management, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the laboratory environment.



Responsibilities:


• Receive and process samples in accordance with testing requirements, ensuring accurate patient identification and proper specimen collection containers.

• Identify, label, and distribute samples to the correct testing areas accurately.

• Perform clerical and administrative tasks as needed.

• Organize and oversee laboratory supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels as directed by laboratory management.

• Communicate any specimen discrepancies to technical staff and/or laboratory management.

• Clean and maintain the workspace along with all laboratory equipment and supplies.

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations when handling laboratory samples.

• Follow chemical hygiene and laboratory safety protocols.

• Comply with all laboratory procedures, processes, and methodologies.

• Assist technical laboratory staff and management with additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; strong data entry capabilities.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a laboratory assistant, specimen processor, or relevant laboratory experience is preferred.
