Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist (MC,PM) to join our team at Loma Linda University Medical Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing blood collections by phlebotomy and capillary puncture in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receives customers (e.g., patients, physicians, visitors) and interacts with all types of patients and visitors in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner.
  • Monitors patients for unexpected reactions and responds to emergent situations, as required.
  • Performs collections on all age groups and degree of difficulty, both inpatient and outpatient.
  • Works with Medical Lab staff to provide efficient and timely collections.
  • Provides other collection services including sweat chlorides, chain-of-custody, ambulatory blood pressures, and provides instructions for patient specimen collection.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in high complexity medical lab performing specimen collection and computer data entry preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility.
  • Possesses excellent dexterity and analytic skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize technical work, manage workload, operate technical instruments and equipment, input data and type.
  • Possesses clear speaking abilities in English.
  • Ability to use available resource material independently to resolve and document challenges constructively.
  • Possesses excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills in English matching the style to the message and the audience.
  • Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with all customers (e.g., staff, patients, vendors).
  • Provides staff and management with timely information, constructive and actionable feedback.
  • Fosters cooperation and collaboration actively solicits opinions from others and builds respect and trust.
  • Explains and teaches. Responds to guidance constructively.
  • Detail oriented. Able to reason and solve problems effectively.
  • Able to organize work, to service multiple requests and tasks at one time, while maintaining quality and a professional manner.
  • Self-motivated and works well with minimal direction.
  • Articulates logical and well-founded arguments that support conclusions.

Licensures and Certifications:

  • State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I required.
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • California Driver's License required (excluding Murrieta Hospital).
