Job Title: Senior Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. As a Senior LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Senior Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for providing practical nursing services to developmentally disabled individuals at Tacachale. This includes administering medications and treatments, maintaining documentation, and observing and recording physical and behavioral responses to medication and treatment.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a registered nurse or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care and treatment.
  • Observe and record physical and behavioral responses to medication and treatment.
  • Provide emergency nursing care, including basic life support and emergency care for choking.
  • Assist registered nurses and licensed independent practitioners with clinics, diagnostic tests, and physical examinations.
  • Prepare and administer hypodermic injections as ordered by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Perform simple rehabilitative nursing procedures for selected chronically ill and aged residents.
  • Assist registered nurses with screening procedures and physical examinations.
  • Assist with completing and maintaining medical records and residents' progress.
Requirements:
  • A valid Florida driver's license.
  • Corrective lenses restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must maintain active practical nurse license that allows practical nursing services in the State of Florida.
  • Must maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Must complete annual health screening.
  • Must be willing and able to provide 'hands-on' assistance to residents with activities of daily living to include: personal hygiene and grooming, such as bathing, toileting, and dressing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs with or without accommodations.

The Senior Licensed Practical Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient contact. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
