Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled BAS Controls Service Technician to join our team at Climatec LLC. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our building automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and maintenance for building automation systems, including controls database, graphics, and programming.
  • Perform start-up and commissioning of building controls, including point-to-point checkout and verification of alarm, annunciation, and other actions.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites and provide information and support for other contractors.
  • Debug installation issues during static and dynamic start-up and commissioning of building controls.
  • Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues beyond controls or special systems operation.
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in accurate estimation, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Provide service support on existing installations to ensure systems meet existing building occupancy codes.
  • Provide service support on existing systems to ensure proper and efficient operation and ongoing support to facility building engineers.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Assist Sales team during estimating phase, including potential product or system demonstrations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • 2+ years experience with Controls and Building Automation.
  • 2+ years of experience with Distech and Niagara.
  • Understanding of computer operating systems, including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to configure and debug computer and networking issues.
  • Experience with programming.
  • Ability to work with electronic equipment (volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes).
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and electronic circuitry.
  • Working understanding of AC power circuitry (120VAC and greater).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and address issues empathetically and creatively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics or Building Automation.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical studies.
  • 4+ years of experience Controls and Building Automation.
  • 4+ years of experience with Distech and Niagara.
  • Service Department experience.
  • Expertise in HVAC operations, Controls and/or Building Automation within a facility.
  • Deep understanding of DDC or special systems for Level 2 and Senior System Specialists.
  • N4 Certification.

Essential Functions:

  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec's vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
