This is a Sunday-Thursday position at Sobriety Centers of New Hampshire in Laconia, New Hampshire.

Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Associate I serves as an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for monitoring and reporting client behaviors, providing continuous client care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling, assisting in client data collection, recording, and maintenance, and responding in crisis situations and medical emergencies as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the wellbeing of clients and provide a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
  • Conduct safety checks, ensuring supervision is conducted at intervals in accordance with individualized supervision guidelines.
  • Check clients for contraband and manage client valuables and belongings.
  • Interact routinely with clients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to supervisor.
  • Engage with clients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
  • Facilitate client educational-rehabilitative groups covering social skills, coping skills, anger management, and independent living skills.
  • Take and record vital signs properly and communicate significant changes in client condition to charge nurse.
  • Document in client records timely, accurately, and appropriately.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage client emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment.
  • Assist with unit cleaning, organization of new admits charts, discharge process, filing, and initiate client/employee incident reports.
  • Provide transfer or transportation for clients or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff member as required.
  • Provide verbal report/briefing to oncoming shift.
  • Serve as a resource for new clients, introducing them to other clients and staff, explaining programs, and encouraging participation.
  • Maintain awareness of client needs and individual goals while motivating clients towards activities beneficial to them.
  • Assist with activity planning by offering new activity ideas and diverse therapeutic recreation programs.
  • Organize and set up equipment used in recreational activities, provide clients with activity resources and supplies as needed.
  • Enforce safety rules to prevent injury and modify activities to suit needs of specific groups.
  • Help develop and maintain departmental resources, sharing responsibility to monitor equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months or more experience working with specific population of facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and various treatment modalities of population served preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
