Emergency Veterinary Technician Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team at Dogs and Cats Emergency Specialists in Bowie, MD. As a member of our outstanding team, you will be part of a 24/7 state-of-the-art veterinary hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Our Work Environment
  • We utilize cutting-edge technology, including a fully integrated in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, on-site CT and MRI, video endoscopy, cystoscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy, climate-controlled oxygen therapy, and a telemetric ECG system.
  • We offer a Wellness Program and the support of a full-time, on-site veterinary social worker who understands and addresses the unique mental health challenges faced by veterinary professionals.

Job Requirements
  • You must share our commitment to our mission, vision, and values.
  • You must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency and critical care setting.
  • You must demonstrate excellence in nursing care and critical thinking skills.
  • You must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and limited on-call duties.
  • You must have a strong desire to learn and grow in the role.
  • You must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.
Required Skills
  • You must be proficient in calculating doses and administering intravenous drugs and fluids.
  • You must have ninja-like reflexes to handle surprise tail wags and unexpected bodily fluid encounters.
  • You must be skilled in obtaining and analyzing laboratory samples (blood, urine, and stool).
  • You must be able to interpret meows, barks, and chirps—telepathic skills are a plus.
  • You must have experience in catheter placement.
  • You must possess the stamina of an athlete to keep up with lively kitties and energetic puppies.
  • You must be able to monitor patients under anesthesia (ventilator experience is a plus).
  • You must have strong time management, initiative, and task prioritization skills.
Schedule
  • We offer 10-Hour Shifts, 12-Hour Shifts, Day Shifts, Swing Shifts, Weekends as Needed, On Call, and Holidays.
Pay Range
  • Compensation is based on experience and skill level. $29.00/hour.
