The Patient Support Services Associate serves as the primary point of contact for patients and visitors. It is crucial that this role embodies exceptional service, warmth, and a commitment to prioritizing the needs of patients, visitors, and colleagues.
The associate operates under the guidance of the Patient Support Services team, ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely movement of patients within the healthcare facility. This includes the coordination and delivery of necessary equipment throughout the hospital.
Essential Duties:
- Uphold safety and infection control protocols while performing job-related tasks.
- Strive to create a secure and welcoming environment for patients, healthcare providers, and staff.
- Collaborate with the Patient Support Services Team to maintain workflow and assist with various tasks as directed by Bed Management and Call Center staff.
Respond promptly to service requests, ensuring that all actions respect patient privacy and comfort. The associate is expected to:
- React immediately to urgent situations, such as Code Blue or Rapid Response calls.
- Facilitate patient transfers and discharges efficiently.
- Ensure patients are prepared for transport, addressing their basic needs beforehand.
Additionally, the associate will:
- Transport patients safely using wheelchairs or stretchers, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment, reporting any issues as necessary.
- Assist with the discharge process, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Experience: Previous customer service experience is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves heavy lifting and physical activity, including:
- Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Frequent lifting and moving of patients and equipment.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to various healthcare environments and potential hazards, including bodily fluids and chemical substances.
