Job Summary

Fort Bend ISD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our ECSE Early Literacy Center team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality educational services to students with diverse needs. Your expertise and passion for teaching will make a significant impact on the lives of our students and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with parents, students, and school personnel to develop and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) that align with the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines.
  • Design and implement curriculum that meets the unique needs of students, incorporating accommodations, modifications, and adaptations as necessary.
  • Document student progress, maintain accurate records, and analyze assessment results to inform instruction.
  • Administer and analyze student assessments, including district testing and informal criterion-referenced assessments.
  • Develop Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) and annual goals/objectives based on assessment results.
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans that are developmentally and age-appropriate, incorporating behavior intervention plans and accommodations/modifications as needed.
  • Utilize adaptive and assistive technology to facilitate learning, communication, mobility, and positioning.
  • Implement behavioral strategies, including approved physical restraint when necessary, to ensure student safety.
  • Provide school health services, such as G-Tube feedings and administering medications, under the supervision of the nurse.
  • Assist students with personal care services, including feeding, cleaning, dressing, lifting, positioning, transitioning, toileting, and changing.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, safeguard student confidentiality, and prepare paperwork for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, students, and school personnel.
