Position Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Youth Development plays a pivotal role in overseeing all initiatives related to School Age Child Care, Summer Camp, Early Childhood Education, and Enrichment Programs at the Greater Somerset County YMCA. This position is accountable for the effective administration of these programs and the supervision of key personnel, ensuring that they foster opportunities for youth growth, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Youth Development & Community Engagement: Provide leadership and act as a positive role model for staff and volunteers. Manage programs that serve diverse youth populations, enhancing equity in local educational institutions through direct services and community collaboration.
  • Program Management: Ensure the successful execution of youth programs, including mentoring initiatives and after-school activities, adhering to established standards and best practices.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, train, and support program staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring financial accountability and sustainability of programs.
  • Community Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders to promote program visibility and participation.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Implement and uphold safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all participants.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assist in fundraising efforts and community outreach initiatives.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and values, promoting a culture of respect and responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent experience working with youth.
  • Strong communication skills, with bilingual capabilities preferred.
  • Proficient in data management and reporting.
  • Current certifications in CPR and First Aid.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role requires the ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with community members effectively. The position may involve occasional evening and weekend commitments for special events.
