Metro Transit stands as one of the largest transit systems in the nation, employing over 3,000 individuals. We facilitate transportation through a cohesive network of buses, light rail, and commuter trains, while also offering resources for carpooling, vanpooling, walking, or biking in the Twin Cities.
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires in the Rail Transit Supervisor and Senior Rail Transit Supervisor roles.
- Conduct thorough training needs assessments for the Rail Control Center, providing prioritized recommendations to the Rail Training and Development Manager.
- Deliver tailored instructional sessions, both in classroom settings and within the Rail Control Center, adhering to agency and departmental policies.
- Create engaging e-Learning modules using in-house software and video resources, ensuring accessibility on the Learning Management System (LMS) for both new hires and ongoing training.
- Manage document control and updates for all training materials related to the Rail Control Center.
- Maintain accurate records of training programs focused on safety and operational procedures, utilizing the LMS for tracking attendance and personnel training records.
- Collaborate with external training partners to coordinate training initiatives alongside the Rail Training and Development Manager.
- Develop reference materials and documents outlining lessons learned, recommending enhancements to the training curriculum to ensure compliance with operational procedures.
- Participate in departmental and Light Rail meetings to foster positive interdepartmental relationships.
- Work closely with the current Rail Control Center Training Supervisor to ensure the seamless execution of the training program, including cross-training on existing training initiatives and eLearning software.
- Engage in continuous improvement assessments for training projects, ensuring efficiency and project completion.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must possess a combination of progressive experience in training and development, instructional design, public administration, or rail operations, along with relevant educational qualifications in fields such as Instructional Design, Adult Education, Public Administration, or related disciplines. The following combinations are acceptable:
- High school diploma/GED with eight (8) years of relevant experience, including one (1) year in a leadership or training role within a transit or transportation context.
- Associate degree with six (6) years of experience, including one (1) year in a leadership or training capacity in transit or transportation.
- Bachelor's degree or higher with four (4) years of experience, including one (1) year in a leadership or training role in transit or transportation.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and their application in training material development.
- Familiarity with the ADDIE instructional design framework for effective training creation.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive analyses of training needs and enhance existing training programs.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Proficient in MS Outlook for project planning and calendar management.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
- Experience in creating eLearning modules or a willingness to learn.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint for documentation and presentation creation.
- Capability to present effectively to diverse audiences, including stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new technologies in e-Learning and authoring tools.
- Ability to utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for tracking training attendance and records.
- Professional demeanor in all interactions.
